To most accurately determine the amount of sod needed for a project, first divide the project area into squares and rectangles. Multiply the length and width of each area, then add those areas together. This will give you the total square feet of the project area. Then, take the total number of square feet of the project area and divide by 450. This will give you the amount of pallets needed for your project! You can use the handy sod calculator below!
Note: Each pallet of sod covers 450 square feet and each piece is 16”x24”
When budgeting for your sod order, we recommend you plan to buy an extra cushion of 10-20%. The lower end of that range applies to square or rectangular lawns; the larger for irregularly shaped yards.
